Dog Training

Dog Training

Welcome back folks.  Just thought I’d share with you a little something I like to do in my leisure time.  It’s actually more of a love or a hobby than something I do but it happens to coincide with one of my recent projects too, which it’s great as I get to kill two birds with one stone as they say.

Recently I’ve cleared a path from the back of my house up to the mountain trail that goes around the mountain.  It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time as it gives good access for guests and adds value to their stay here.

The hobby part is working with and training dogs so what I’m looking to do ideally, is to get the dogs to automatically accompany the guests up to the mountain trail, while offering a bit of safety, comfort and general peace of mind to the guests as they ascend up through the jungle.  I think it would just add a nice touch to their experience here with us.

Dog Training

The dogs would obviously need to feel comfortable with guests.  99% of the time they are and as they’re always happy to tag along with any kind of adventure it should be a breeze.  I’ve just got to make sure they know why they’re going up the mountain and what’s required of them.  This is where the training is needed and it only needs to be experiential at that: that and a bit of repetition.  I know for a fact that should one of them sniff out a snake or any other kind of threat, the dogs will react and resolve the problem very early on and rid the threat well out of range of the guests, so that’s a huge relief before we even get going.

I’ll take them up on a recce run first thing in the morning.  I’ll keep you posted as always.  Thanks for dropping by folks, until next time..
